Matt Twetten, Senior Health Policy Analyst

Mr. Twetten is the Senior Health Policy Analyst for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). He has been with the AAOS since 2006 and works on physician reimbursement policy. Prior to AAOS, Matthew was with the North American Spine Society (NASS) for two years as the Senior Manager of Health Policy and Reimbursement.

In his role as Senior Health Policy Analyst for the AAOS Matthew works regularly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel and the AMA/Multi-Specialty Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) on coding and reimbursement policy for orthopaedic procedures. He also interacts with third party private payors on reimbursement policies, particularly on reimbursement policy for new technologies. He has prepared over 200 individual new or revised CPT code proposals and over 200 RUC and CMS recommendations for Relative Value Unit (RVU) settings.

He has a Masters of Arts in Political Science from SUNY-Binghamton and is completing a Doctorate in Political Science at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
